if you are a “five years old” embeded-software engineer, you may feel a little scare with your situation:
you're not as strong as the younger,
you're not as struggling as the younger,
you may got married with someone, feeling the stress from family,
your summary is less than people of same age…

What would you do? What should you do?

I choose to learn more others knowledge.

So I diceded to build a personal website, after attempt building a vue-base website, I build a wiki, with dokuwiki, to record something new, in work or life.

Here are the steps.

  • get a domain name –
I buy a domain name from aliyun, 5 years time limit.
  • national website filing –
you have to do this if you want to resolve the IP to the domain, it may takes several days
  • get a server –
where the website is actually stored, it may be a PC, or the server on cloud, for me, I buy a vitual pc in aliyun, because I may visit the website in any time any where, and I can't make a PC working all the time

More information please read https://yq.aliyun.com/articles/37204.

So far, we have all the resource to build our wikis. I had compare several wikis, the most popular is Mediawiki and Dokuwiki, at last I chose the Dokuwiki, for its simple and easy to use.

More information you can read https://civihosting.com/blog/dokuwiki-vs-mediawiki/

My system is Ubuntu16.04, I'm an old Ubuntu user, even the CentOS is more stable.

Here is the command:

sudo apt-get -y install php7.0 php-mbstring php7.0-xml apache2 libapache2-mod-php php-xml
sudo a2enmod rewrite
cd /var/www
sudo wget https://download.dokuwiki.org/src/dokuwiki/dokuwiki-stable.tgz
sudo tar xvf dokuwiki-stable.tgz
sudo mv dokuwiki-*/ dokuwiki
sudo chown -R www-data:www-data /var/www/dokuwiki

cd
echo "<VirtualHost *:80>
    DocumentRoot /var/www/dokuwiki
    ServerName <your domain>
</VirtualHost>" >> apache2-dokuwiki.conf
sudo cp ./apache2-dokuwiki.conf /etc/apache2/sites-available/
sudo a2ensite apache2-dokuwiki
sudo service apache2 reload

The command lines are based on the install page of Dokuwiki official website, more information please read: https://www.dokuwiki.org/install:ubuntu

notice: you should change the field <your domain> with your actual domain, for me, it's sirius5206.top

After run all the commands above, you should change the apache2 configure file:

sudo vi /etc/apache2/apache2.conf

replace
AllowOverride None
with
AllowOverride All

If everythins is OK, now you can visit the <your domain>/install.php to configure your dokuwiki, and remenber to delete the install.php from the server, which located in /var/www/dokuwiki/install.php.
